The Comtest RS530 breaks
all 25 interface lines and has access sockets on both sides of
the switch, making it possible to break and crosshatch all lines
by means of the switches and jumper cables. Two dual gender ribbon
cables assure 100% connectivity in any type of configuration.
All contacts are gold plated to ensure good electrical contact.
The, "in-line", high speed
monitors test the signal as set by the standard (200mV). The unassigned
monitors allows tests for realistic (0.3/0.6/1/ 2 volt) signal
levels. The traps increase the functionality of the unassigned
monitors by storing short duration changes.
The Ground Potential Difference
test is an important feature needed if different grounds (wall
outlets) are used. The “in line” GPD tests for voltages over 2
volts, the V11 monitor/trap allows test of Ground Potential Differences
as low as 0.3 volt. The Signal Strength test allows the user to
test for signal levels of 0.3, 0.6, 1 and 2 volts of GPD or the
balanced interface lines.
It is housed in a
ABS plastic case, with the battery compartment on the backside.
The logical face plate is easy to read and gives all information
needed for testing the interface.
It runs over 20 hours
on a single 9 volt battery, or can be powered by an optional 9
volt mains adapter. A small 1.5V, AAA size, battery supplies the
current for the DC source.
